'Rainbow Stories' Devising/directing/designing/performing
Promenade performance for Mellors Year 2 students
Waverley Theatre
(March 2014)
Working with Year 2 students at Mellors Primary School, we ran a series of workshops that culminated in us delivering a promenade show for their year to experience. We involved the children in devising and developing the story, and used their reactions from the workshops in creating our performance. We used object puppetry to capture the children's imagination, as well as creating visceral moments that involved the children following a spider's web around the theatre space, crawling under a rainbow doorway, using insturments to make the sound of rain, shaking a parachute to make waves on the sea and lifting the parachute up to see the stars underneath. This was both an enriching and experimental that tested my creative limits.
